Mac is the founder of Embercombe, a social enterprise located in Devon, that seeks to inspire committed action for a truly sustainable world. Over a period of twenty years he was mentored and coached by Native American metis ‘Medicine’ people to learn the Earth wisdom that once informed all indigenous peoples, including those of Britain. During this training and ever since he has attempted to bring two worlds together – an ancient world view that emphasises relationship, interdependence, and reverence for life with the huge challenges and equally huge opportunities of the 21st Century. Mac is the originator of Embercombe’s powerful and evocative programme ‘The Journey’ and is actively engaged in probing the mystery and beauty of Britain’s ancient shamanic tradition. In January 2010 he undertook a journey-ceremony walking from his birthplace in Malvern to the Isle of Mona (Anglesey) and is now writing a second book that traces this exploration of our wild land and wild nature. Mac’s first book ‘Finding Earth, Finding Soul – the invisible path to authentic leadership’ speaks to the necessity for each of us to gather our courage, step out of the shadows and become the leaders ‘we have been waiting for’. He is now increasingly in demand as a speaker at conferences, festivals, and gatherings where he is able to use his considerable ability to move, inspire, and challenge many different and diverse audiences. Mac lives at Embercombe. He is a member of the Core Team and sits on Embercombe’s Council as the male representative for the Storytellers and Rememberers.
